George Reiss, MD

Dr. Reiss is a board certified eye physician and surgeon. He first treated Valley patients in 1986 as a visiting Chief Resident from the Mayo Clinic-Minnesota. Dr. Reiss is fellowship trained in glaucoma and has extensive experience with many techniques of modern eye surgery, including small incision and no needle cataract removal.

Dr. Reiss has served as a clinical instructor for resident eye physicians from the Mayo Clinic-Minnesota, and Wills Eye in Philadelphia.

In 1993, Dr. Reiss was named the Team Ophthalmologist for the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League, where he manages both general eye care and major injuries. He has consulted for other professional sports teams including the Phoenix Suns, Mercury and Rattlers. He has evaluated players for the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, and Seattle Mariners during their spring training seasons. Previous appointments include the Phoenix Roadrunner and Mustangs hockey teams.

His medical background includes receiving his Medical Doctor degree from the State University of New York with an internship at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY, and residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Reiss received his glaucoma fellowship training at the University of Illinois Eye Center in Chicago.

In 2007 Dr Reiss served as President of the Phoenix Ophthalmological Society. Dr. Reiss is a consultant for the Arizona Ophthalmic Trauma Service.
